Vocal physio is a unique hands on treatment to help professional voice users experiencing vocal health symptoms. These symptoms can arise for singers and professional speakers such as teachers, lawyers and fitness coaches. Some of the symptoms could be as follows;
Loss of vocal range
Change in vocal quality - husky, hoarse tones
Pain when singing/speaking
During your assessment, causes of these symptoms may be identified and an appropriate treatment plan can then be prescribed. The treatment approach is paired with thorough assessment of spinal posture and mobility, breathing mechanics, sinus health and abdominal support. Hands on treatment consists of soft tissue release, laryngeal mobilisations and thyroid cartilage manipulation however you will likely also be given exercises that you can complete at home.
Whether your a professional, vocational student or recreational dancer having a physiotherapist that understands the dynamic movement and complicated biomechanics of the sport is invaluable. Our performance specialist has experience working with dancers from Strictly Come Dancing, various west-end shows and vocational ballet dancers as well as having personal experience touring with a ballet company. You may need a dance physio for any of the following;
Dance related injury
Pain on certain steps/movements
Pointe shoe screening or pointe shoe related pain
Understanding and controlling of hyper mobility syndrome
Improving flexibility safely
During the assessment a holistic approach is taken to ensure a personalised, safe and science based approach. Treating every dancer as an individual and most importantly, like an athlete.
