what to expect..

Soft tissue therapy

Our Soft Tissue Therapists will use a combination of techniques that will assess and treat your soft tissue injury, including those in your muscles, tendons, fascia and ligaments. Some of the techniques used include deep tissue massage, friction massage, trigger point therapy and sports massage. Our Therapists also offer advice on how to improve posture and maintain flexibility to prevent reoccurrence of injury.

Soft tissue massage is not designed for just the sports person, as it can be highly beneficial to all. Soft tissue massage has many benefits including the stimulation of blood flow which can assist in the healing process for sprains, strains and other soft tissue injuries.

A recent injury can usually be improved in a few sessions. For more longstanding pain problems, you may be recommended a course of treatments and this will be discussed with you at your first appointment.

Cupping

what to expect

CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping Therapy involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. This practice has roots in ancient Chinese, Egyptian, and Middle Eastern cultures. It has gained huge popularity in recent years, and rightly so, given its potential to support the body’s natural healing processes.
Cupping is used to decompress the skin, speed up healing, reduce tension and pain, and to provide a relaxing experience.

Who is cupping therapy for?

Cupping therapy is suitable for a wide range of individuals, but it’s especially popular among people dealing with chronic pain, muscle tension, or stress. Athletes often use cupping to aid muscle recovery and reduce soreness after intense physical activity. It’s also used by people with conditions like arthritis, migraines, and fibromyalgia. For some, cupping helps with relaxation by relieving tension and stress, similar to a deep tissue massage.

How long do the marks last?

The marks, which are not actual bruises but rather signs of blood being drawn to the skin’s surface, typically last anywhere from a few days to two weeks, depending on your skin type. These can range from just a little redness, to the circular marks you see on Olympic swimmers!

Does cupping hurt?

Cupping generally isn’t painful, though the suction may create an unusual sensation! Where massage works via compression, cupping feels more like a decompression.

Is cupping safe?

Cupping is generally considered safe when performed by a trained practitioner. There are some medical conditions, including blood and skin disorders where you would avoid cupping, so best to speak to a member of staff before booking if you have any concerns.

Cupping is a great way to level up your Soft Tissue Therapy appointment. Speak to a member of the team if you’re excited to add this incredible therapy to your treatment plan!
